This painting is for my good friend Zortified. She's a great fiction writer, and I wanted to give her something back for all the fantastic fic she's written over the years. I got an idea to do something with camoflage colors, and she liked the idea.

This is my abstract take on camo (camoflage). I had the most fun time painting this out of all my other paintings. I got out the palette knife and played around with impasto, where you paint thickly with a lot of texture, letting the brushstrokes or palette knife strokes show through. I giggled through creating the whole painting; it was sheer joy to create this!

When I was first introducted to impasto last year, I initially resisted it, but it's become a lot of fun to play with this technique. Since then, I try to put a lot of texture into everything I paint.
